FP2 Client Installation

Previous pageReturn to chapter overviewNext page

The FP2 Client installer should be run on each computer that will be running FP2.

As with the Server installer, you should be logged into the computer as a Local Administrator.

After starting the installer, you will be prompted for an answer regarding whether this is a network installation.

If you are running FP2 with many users and computers the answer is yes.  You will then be asked for the name of the Server.  In a LAN or VPN environment, enter the Windows Name of the Server computer.  For external connections, enter the external IP address of the router that is port-forwarded to the Server.

If you're setting up a single computer running PostgreSQL and the FP2 Client, the answer is no.

When the installation is complete open FP2 by double-clicking the icon on your desktop.

You will be prompted for Omnis registration information - the only mandatory information is the serial number included in your installation package.  Valid serial numbers should start with WBRN51UN

If you have converted from the previous "Classic" version of FP2, your existing passwords will still work, but you are now required to select a username as well. Note: passwords in the new system are case-sensitive, but converted passwords are all defaulted to lower-case.

The first time you login you may be asked to set a Main FP2 Folder Path.  For more information, see FirePro Folder Connection.

If you receive an error message when trying to connect to the Server, refer to to FP2 Configuration.
